There has been no extensive work available providing the History of Christianity in India at one place and whatever available of earlier annals of the Indian Churches and Church History were scanty, and, hence, this all-time classic work which fills that gap. As the Author contends, the chief solicitude of this ecumenical account of Christianity in India is to provide `History of Facts'. He affirms that in the book, there is not even one task of doubtful authority as its sole purpose is to promote the glory of the Lord. This voyage of reviving historical facts goes chronologically, beginning with the intercourse between the Western Nations to the then East Indies covering Ceylon & Burmah, continuing with the phase where Missions were employed in the then Mogul Empire, and further going on to provide an elaborate picture of the establishment of the British Empire in India. It inter-alia exhibits Missions carried out in areas like: Southern India including Madras; Eastern India including Bengal & Calcutta; Northern India including Agra; and Western India including Bombay & Goa. This monumental presentation has been accomplished in 5 Volumes. Vols. 1 & 2, contain an account of the introduction of Christianity into India, from the commencement of Christian era, together with the History of the Syrian and Roman Churches in India. Vols. 3 & 4 exhibit History of all the Protestant Churches in the East, right from their commencement. Finally, Vol. 5 contains a minute and authentic account of the progress of the several Missions of the Christian Knowledge, Church Missionary, and Propagation Societies; also of the American, Baptist, and the London Missionaries; the Wesleyan Societies, and of the establishment of the Scottish Missions. Also, Vols. 4 & 5 are duly equipped with Appendices for readers' better understanding. The Author has spared no pains to obtain access of all the authentic documents like original reports and correspondence of the Dutch, Danish, German, American, Portugese, and English Missionaries; to ensure the integrity of the work. It covers subjects like History, Missions, Religion, Regional Studies, and details of the episcopate of various bishops that were established in different parts of the Country. This superlative work fully presents itself for the Undergraduate and Postgraduate Students of History, Researchers, Christian Religious Scholars, Historians, Educationalists, Christian Laity, Church Clergies, and also for those who wish to look beyond the picture, on the advent & propagation of one of the leading world' s faith, in India
