Taj Mahal is Ram Singh's latest poetic expression in which the story of Taj has been weaved into verse. The poet ruminates not just on the love between Mumtaz Mahal and Shah Jahan but also the history of the Taj. For him, Taj is part of folklore romance throughout the world. Lovers take pledges in the name of Taj. It is the ultimate expression of a true lover's dedication and commitment to the beloved.
Taj is a symbol of love etched in white marble. Much has been written on Taj for centuries. At the core remains in all such literature the purity of true love, an epochal immortality, which transcends the boundaries of nationhood. One of the seven wonders of the world, it invites all to have a glimpse, the poor and the rich, the young and the old. The poet feels that words are not enough to describe the eternal beauty of this architectural marvel.
Ram Singh’s creative and inquisitive mind always looked for greater multi layered meanings in phenomenon around. He successfully completed his Masters in Hindi and English Literature and Sociology, for he genuinely wanted to delve further into the rootedness of language in culture. He moved on to do his doctoral dissertation on folk literature.
