The Indo-Myanmar biodiversity hotspot is centred on the Indo-Chinese Peninsula and comprises of Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam, plus parts of Southern China and North Eastern India (States of Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Meghalaya, Nagaland and South Assam). As per available record, out of 25 biodiversity Hot Spot regions of the world, Indo-Burma (Myanmar) region occupies 19th position with 2.3% a global endemic plants and 0.9% of global endemic vertebrates. Available information on non vascular plants, invertebrates and fungi is generally inadequate for conservation and evaluation of the species or sites.
The present volume “Microbial Resources of Indo-Myanmar (Burma) Hot Spot Region - Conservation and Sustainable Development with Special Reference to North-East India” encompases a wide range of topics on microbial resources of this hot spot region. This is the compilation of work done by selected life Scientists including Agri-Scientist of India in general and North-East India in particular under seven section viz., Bacterial resources, Viral resources, Algal resources, Fungal resources, Mites resources, Earthworm gut content microbial resources and microbial resources for sustainable development.
