The book is a collection of articles on American poetry, plays, and novels, widely ranging from the early masters such as Cooper, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Hawthorne, and O'Neill to the moderns/post-moderns. The choice and selection of the articles is made, keeping the fact in view that they tend to be syllabus-oriented, and also that they induce among the students the habit of going to the primary source and look at a work of art from their own point of view, so as to develop their own critical approach to literature. The book will be useful for the students and teachers of English literature and American literature, and researchers in these fields. Dr. R.K.
