This book is an attempt to study the novels of Shashi Deshpande in terms of silences and survival of Indian women in domestic and social sphere. How the modern Indian women are adjusting with customs and traditions is an issue highlighted by Shashi Deshpande in her fictions. Divided into five chapters. The book analyses the key issues fo women in novels of Shashi Deshpande including discusses the husband-wife relationships, the roles of lovers and friends in women’s lives, issues of rape, desertion of wives by the husbands and the silences of women and their strategies of survival.
