Primary education is considered as an important factor which can play a significant role for the overall development of a society and economy. A sound primary ducation may lead to sound secondary & higher education. Primary education has the power to meet basic learning needs for a sustained improvement of quality of life. It is birth right of every child that primary education make person capable of reading and riting and knowing the environmental scenario in which he lives. There has been significant positive impact of the access and quality of primary education on aggregate social and economic development. The present study is an attempt to discuss about the development of primary education in the state of Assam.
