The discourse of the marginal can be seen as one response to widespread political violence done during the past and as an effect of radical upheavals and ideological destabilizations. The persistence, expansion and re-articulation of this discourse have been connected with the ongoing performance of the cultural and political critique from feminist, African American, Third World, Gay, Lesbian and other positions of self-identified as marginal. Nowadays marginality has become a universal phenomenon. To be on the margin is to be part of the whole but outside of the main body. The voices of the marginalized and the oppressed are lacking in canonical literature and it is high time their voices are heard and recognized. The articles in the book are empirical and theoretical and examine particular issues in the research process and how such research can contribute to issues of inclusion and social justice.
