Special emphasis was given for the members of Dioscoreaceae, Piperaceae, Moraceae, Rubiaceae, Clusiaceae, Aristolochiaceae etc resulting in recording of interesting species. For sustaining interest of all sections of society including students, scholars, botanists, professionals, practitioners, entrepreneurs and scientists, latest valid nomenclature in scientific parlance with available vernacular names in Assamese, common names in English, Sanskrit and Hindi have been put as gathered from available literature. The species of plants under description also include common vegetables of everyday use, medicinal mushrooms as they directly or indirectly contribute to our health in the form of nutrients, minerals, vitamins or as supplementary diets. Author Jatindra Sarma is a senior Forest Officer of Indian Forest Service presently serving in the state of Assam (Assam-Meghalaya Cadre). He is also looking after the State Medicinal Plants Board, Assam since 2018 in the capacity of Member Secretary besides his normal assignment in the Assam Forest Department. He has been working on documentation of medicinal and aromatic plants including mushrooms, specially of Assam, since 2003 while conserving, propagating many of the rare and endangered species of plants. He has also been an honorary Advisor of the NIRD from 2011 to 2013 in a project on Medicinal and Aromatic Plants of North-East India. He has extensively travelled almost throughout the country and possessed a vast knowledge on medicinal and aromatic plants and biodiversity resources especially of the North-East India. He has published more than 28 Research Articles on plants 15 of which are novel Taxon added to the world flora and also to the flora of India.
