ABOUT THE AUTHOR: An Indian Police Service officer of 1970 batch, the author served meritoriously for 37 years in various important positions till his retirement as a Director General of Police in Punjab in 2007. An MA in English, M Phil and PhD in Public Administration, he is a recipient of Police Medal for Meritorious Service (1991) and President’s Police Medals for Distinguished Service (1999). Having been trained as a trainer with Lancashire Police in the UK, he distinguished himself as a police trainer and introduced revolutionary innovations in the training methodology in police education and research for which he was conferred the State Award by the Government of Punjab in 2004.Dr Aujla is the author of three books – Second to None, a history of the Punjab police, Police Training – A Profile, a research work on police training and A Few More Patriots – a biography of his father S. Sochet Singh Aujla who was a founding father of Indian Constitution. He has published a large number of articles in The Tribune, the leading newspaper in North India. Dedicated to historical research and cultural heritage, he is a life member of INTACH and an active promoter of female education. He lives in Chandigarh with his wife, Rupinder.
